Stifling Down.
Are you even in your mind or do you just go there to die?
Somewhere along the way
you forgot that your words had weight.
That every time you were instructed
how to be, what to do
where to go, when to move,
who you are, you were meant to correct and deny
let you remain held in place.
But you let them grab hold of your legs
and in the presence of that space
let yourself find resonance
in their analysis of your traits.
You didn’t even notice
they’d started pulling you under
until you opened your eyes
in the wake of their blunder.
Your flailing body, cast asunder.
Sunshine in the mind, transformed into thunder.
A darkening of light so bright
An abyss would quiver at the mere sight.
Your silence, stifling.
Their control, deafening.
The reckoning of a mind full of wonder.
